2C-Injection Moulding

In 2C injection moulding, two different plastics are permanently bonded together in one production process. These can be hard/soft combinations, but also similar materials in different colours.

2C injection moulding or multi-component injection moulding is used for various reasons:

  • Assembly
By joining two components using injection moulding, one assembly step can be saved. This eliminates a production step and saves money.
  • Sealing
An additional component can form a seal between other parts. By injecting this component immediately, a separate seal can be saved. In addition, the connection between the soft and the hard component is completely watertight and airtight. This already significantly reduces the risk of leakage.
  • Haptics / Ergonomics
Multi-component injection moulding can be used to create a non-slip or rubber-like appearance on a product. This makes it possible to add value to the products. Personalised product variants can also be created by varying the colours.
  • Information/Colours
By using a second colour during injection moulding, texts or characters can be applied. This information can be applied directly to a product without the need for additional operations such as printing.
